LENNA BAHULE

On her first visit to the UK, Lenna Bahule, a Mozambican artist, brings her new show, Do Leste em Diante, also featuring longtime collaborators Cauê Silva (percussion), Kiko Woiski (bass & vocals), and Ed Woiski (guitar & vocals). For this performance, Lenna will be joined by Chris Franck from the London-based band Da Lata.

The show offers an intimate sonic journey that blends ancestral and contemporary influences, crossing Mozambique, Brazil, and the Southern Hemisphere. The band performs songs from KUMLANGO (Lenna's latest album) alongside unreleased material from Lenna’s ongoing research into transatlantic sound connections and songs from East Africa.

Lenna Bahule is an award-winning vocalist, composer, and art educator. She is known for her vocal range and arrangements, as well as vibrant rhythms that blend traditional with contemporary sounds from Mozambique and other Afro cultures. Her genre-bending, transcendental and captivating musical style is characterised by the use of organic materials to produce music, electronic soundscapes, lyrics in different African and imaginary languages, and immersive body-mind-soul experiences.
